The Lonewolf Read online

“Anytime. I will be getting what I’ve found from this visit, tonight. You'll hear back to me in the morning." She tells me with a smile. I give her a smile back and nod my head.

  “Claudia can I have a minute alone with you?” I tap her on the shoulder.

  “Um sure, let's go outside.” She says rubbing her left arm.

  We walk outside to a small shaded spot a little way away from the shed. I looked around to see Harper, Ryden and Nikko talking to the three girls from Claudia’s pack. I shake my head when I see Harper lifting his shirt up and making a beautiful brown hair girl laugh.

  “What did you want to talk about?” Claudia says bringing me back to her.

  “Oh, yeah. I would like to take you out to my club on Tuesday night." I say running my hands through my hair.

  “That’s cool. I’d love to. Was that all? I would like to get back—” she says but I cut her off by kissing her.

  I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed to feel her lips on mine. I want to mark her right here and right now. I can feel Zeus ready to come out, but I hold him back.

  “Do you want to go for a run?” she asks after we break way.

  “Yes, I think my wolf would appreciate that." I say.

  “What is his name, anyways? Mine is Noah and she’s my wild side." she says giggling.

  “Mine is Zeus. He can be the killer in me." I say smiling at her.

  Without a word she takes off her clothes and shifts and then she takes her clothes in her mouth and puts them by the shed. I decide to do the same. As I put my clothes by hers, I shake my head and go into the woods after her. Zeus gets excited and asks to be in control till we get back to the shed. I tell him yes and he takes off faster after her.

  “Wherez are you going?” Zeus asks. While in wolf form it’s hard to communicate with other wolves that aren’t in the same pack. Luckily, both of our wolves can speak broken English.

  “Our spot my love.” Noah says.

  “We haz a spot?" he asks.

  “Da the ocean.” She smiles.

  We get to the ocean in a matter of minutes and sit on the sand letting water hit our paws. I look at Noah and lick her mouth. She gets closer and puts her head next to mine. Suddenly, we get pulled into this beautiful garden. I’m not sure what happened but this place is beautiful. There are rose bushes, a few hydrangeas, some daisies and my favorite, Hibiscus, and those where just to name a few.

  I walk over to the rose bush and bite one and walk over to Noah. Noah takes it while I give her a small nuzzle and lick her mouth as a sign of love. Noah nuzzles me and gives me a small lick back.

  I blink and we are suddenly we were back at the beach with the water hitting our paws. We look at the water and then back at each other. I know we are both confused but Noah moves her head to the left and takes off. I shake my head and take off running full speed after her. The sand underneath my paws make me run faster. Zeus could easily outrun Noah, but I let her wolf have her fun and take the lead.

  She thunders ahead deeper into the woods. I finally catch up to her and find her by an abandoned building. I cock my head in confusion, but willing to follow my mate anywhere. She shifts back into human form and I follow suit.

  She lets out a giggle and says, “Come on it'll be fun.”

  “Are you sure?” I ask.

  “Yes.” she says grabbing my hand and pulling me inside.

  We walk inside and enter a similar room that her friend took us in just a few minutes before. Once inside, we look at each other. It’s eerie how it looks exactly like the place from the dream. We look around to see everything was the same from the ceiling to the floor.

  “What is this place?” I ask.

  “This use to be our grandparents house. When they passed, my dad built the house that I live in today. I sometimes come out here and think. No one knows about this house except for two people, well three, now. My brother, Lavender and now you, so don't tell anyone unless it's import.” she says looking around.

  “I won’t, you have my word, but why are we here?” I ask.

  “When we got sent here, I thought that maybe there’s something that my grandparents left behind for me to find or something. I don’t know, I just thought we should come here and see if we could get clarity on what it meant.” Claudia says.

  “Okay, let's look around. Where do you want to start?” I ask looking around.

  “Here in this room since it's the room that we were sent to. There must be something in here. If it's not in this room, then we will go to others.” She says as she starts to poke around.

  I walk to the other side of the room. I have no idea what I’m looking for, but I show her everything that I think could be something. There are piles of things on the floors and in the cupboards. It’s all old and dusty and it smells terrible. Nothing I show her in this room was anything of importance. After looking around for half an hour we decided to spilt up and each take a different room. I enter the right side of the house and she takes the left.

  I’m about to give up after searching half a dozen rooms until I enter the last one on the right, which looks like it was her grandparent’s bedroom.

  I find it in a drawer in an old wardrobe. I don’t know how I know that this is what we are looking for, I just do. I take it in my hand and am about to bring it to Claudia when she enters the room.

  She sees me cupping it in my hand and says, “You found it! Let’s change back to our wolf forms so we can go back to everyone. I don't think walking back naked would be a good idea.” she giggles and walks to the busted-out window.

  “Let someone touch you, I'd fucking kill 'em. No one gets to fucking touch what's mine.” I say with a growl as I walk to the window as well.

  “I know, that's why I said to shift back.” She says rolling her eyes.

  We shift back and take off back to the pack house. I hold the disc in my month and take off past Noah. I look back and see Noah with a big smile on her face. Noah puts all her speed to try to catch up to me, but she can’t. I don’t let her win this time. We pass by the ocean again and I let out a nip in response to the sudden rush of air.

  She runs past me at full speed. I shake my head and take off full speed, zooming past her. I slow up when I see the shed where our clothes lay. I shift back and get dressed before anyone sees me. Noah comes running towards me as she does, she shifts mid run and picks up her clothes and changes as well.

  “Hey, put that in your pocket. We don't want anyone to know about the disc even Paul.” Claudia says.

  I put the disc in my pocket, and we walk towards everyone. As make our way towards everyone, Yasmeen walks over to us and warps her arms around me. Claudia looks at her and growls as if Noah wants to come out. I watch as she grabs Yasmeen’s hair and yanks her down to the ground.

  “Hey, what the shit?” Yasmeen yells.

  “Get your slutty paws off my mate! If I see you touching him again, I will rip you apart.” Claudia says showing her teeth.

  “Your mate? He's mine so shut the fuck up, you bitch!” Yasmeen says trying to not cry.

  Claudia doesn’t respond, I watch as Noah takes over and throws Yasmeen across the yard.

  “Noah that’s enough. I will take it from here. She is in my pack and I will take care out her punishment." I say.

  “She is in my house! I will kill her!” Noah says

  Before I can move towards Noah, Paul walks over to her and then shifts into his wolf form. He places his hand on her to calm her down. I walk over to them.

  “Noah, give us Claudia back, please. We need her to come back so we can talk." He tells Noah placing a hand on her back.

  She looks at me, her eyes are starting to shift, and I know that Claudia was coming back in control.

  “Is she gone? I don't want her anywhere near you Carson, I mean it.” Claudia says looking around.

  “She will get what's coming to her but she belongs to my pack so I will deal with her later.” I tell her. I look to where Yasmeen landed and notice that she is gone.


  “Lilly pad, where did you run off to and who were you with?” Paul's asks after he shifts back to his human form.

  “I was with Carson, I wanted to show him something.” Claudia says looking at Paul.

  “I was worried about you, little one. We are all that we have left since mum and dad passed.” Paul tells her as he warps her up in a bear hug.

  “I know you do, I'm sorry. I should have told you I was leaving." she says.

  I walk away so they can have some space. I want to talk to Harper about this disc and see what his take on it is. I walk over to him and see that he is talking to a tiny little thing with dark brown hair falling straight down her back. Her blue eyes are glittering as she laughs at my brothers’ stupid jokes. Any girl who wants to get in my brother pants always laughs at his corny jokes. I walk over to them to see what she was like and more importantly what they were talking about.

  “Hello, I'm Alpha Carson. Who might you be?” I ask giving her a small smile.

  “My name is Mikayla. I’m Claudia's cousin, so if you break her heart or any of that sort, I will kill you. Do you understand me?” she says looking me up and down.

  “Yes, I understand.” I laugh. “She must be your mate because she is just like you, little brother." I say giving him a wink.

  Yeah, I think she is. I didn't think I'd find her here of all places." Harper says rubbing the back of his neck.

  “It's okay. I didn't think I'd find one, either.” I say to him with a smile before turning to her. “Can I speak to my brother real quick?”

  “Of course. I need to check on Claudia anyway.” she says.

  As she reaches Claudia I turn to Harper and pull out the disc that Claudia and I found at her grandparents’ house.

  “Have you seen anything like this at grams house? It looks like it has a pair.” I ask him, flipping it over in my hands.

  “I don't remember but we can go back and check. You own the house now so you can come and go whenever you please.” Harper says with a shrug, looking at real close.

  “Tomorrow you and I will go search grams house. Take a picture before I give this back to Claudia.” I tell him.

  After he takes a picture of the disc, I walk back over to Claudia. I place the disk in her hand discreetly since she doesn’t want anyone knowing about it. She gives me smile and mouths thank you. I smile back and give her a nod. I stand there for a few seconds to take her in, to smell that beautiful sweet smell of hers. After a while, I gather my pack up and tell everyone goodbye. I had to some things to take care of, starting with Yasmeen.

  Chapter 8

  Claudia

  I can't believe that I almost kicked that bitch Yasmeen's ass. I was so angry when I saw her hugging on Carson. That was when Noah came out and shit got ugly. Luckily, Paul was there to calm me down. I also can’t believe how badly I want to make love to Carson. Something about him makes me want to go crazy. I can't put my finger on it, but it's like we are meant to be together and not just us being mates, either. It doesn’t seem like it is that simple.

  I need to do some research on the disc and why our tattoos pulse and burn. I think it might be in our family history book. I leave the party that is still underway even though Carson’s pack left already and head inside to the library. I need to be away from everyone for a bit. The run with Carson and the seeing with Lavender made me tried and I have a killer headache.

  I get to the library and start to look for the family history book and family scroll. I am so wrapped up in trying to find them that I don't hear footsteps behind me. I turn around to see Mikayla, June and Lorren standing in the door away.

  “Are you okay?” Mikayla asks.

  “Yeah just trying to find more information on a disc that Carson and I found. Also, our tattoos keep burning and pulsing. I just think that it's more than us being mates but I don't know what it could be.” I say looking down at my feet.

  “We can help you if you want?" June says as she steps further into the room.

  “Sure, that would be great. I need the family history book, the family scrolls, and the ancient rune book as well as the romaine history book on Carson’s family.” I say as I look around.

  “Okay, we can split up and look for each one.” Lorren suggests.

  “That's a great idea.” I say as I make my way to the back of the library.

  Mikayla goes to the left of the room, Lorren goes to the right and June takes the front of the library. We spend hours looking for everything. We even switch places so that there's fresh eyes on everything.

  “I think I found the ancient rune book.” June says as she wipes dust off an old book.

  Everyone walks over to the desk that sits in the middle of the room. She puts the old weathered book down. I carefully open it to the first page and as I do so, dust fills the air and a creek comes out as it opens. I grab the disc and place it on the desk next to the book. I begin to carefully flip the pages until I find one of the runes on the disc.

  The main rune is cut in half, but I do my best with what I could see. It looks like it can be either a warrior rune or a ruler rune. Both look similar but until I find the other half, I won't know which one it is. From what I have, it's made from some type of stone and looks like it was from the tenth century. It has a V that’s flipped to the left and above it is a line. Below the V shape is a line that is pointed down.

  I need the other piece to know for sure, but at least I know what it could mean. I close the book with a piece of paper to mark the runes. I put the disc on the book and put it to the side.

  “Okay let’s look for the others.” I tell them.

  It doesn't take long for Mikayla to find our family history book.

  “Hmm, it doesn't have any dust on it. I wonder who took it out recently? I would think it would have dust like the ancient rune book.” Lorren says.

  “That’s what I was thinking.” I say.

  Mikayla walks over to the desk and places it beside the ancient rune book. I open the book to my dad and mom's page where it shows my parents and I also see my brother and Abby. Beside them is Carson and me. I look up a bit shocked that Carson's name was in it already even though we didn't mark each other. I look at the girls and they all had the same look on their face. I turn the page. It reads

  Claudia Stonewell destined to mate to Carson Blackmen, King of Romaine and Queen of America wolf packs. Royal blood will be alive once more.

  “What the hell does that mean?” June says.

  “I'm not sure, but let’s find his family book to see if it has the same thing.” I say.

  We keep looking for Carson’s family book. Before long, June accidentally trips over a stack of books that I was meaning to put away.

  “Hey, I found it. It was in this stack of books.” She says as she stands up with a thick book in her hands.

  We open it up and flip through it until we find his family's page. Next to his name is mine and to the left of it is Harper and next to his name is Mikayla. We all look up and see Mikayla's face has a smile on it.

  “When we had them over Harper and I found out that we are mates!" she says jumping up and down.

  “When where you going to tell us?” Lorren asks.

  “I was planning on telling everyone, but Claudia needed our help.” Mikayla says as she looks down.

  “Congrats, Mikayla. Let’s focus on this so we can finish.” I say looking at them.

  We find the same thing written on the back of the page and I tell the girls that we need to find the family scrolls to get a better understanding. We walk towards the back of the library to the right into a separate room full of scrolls of different things. It’s a small room so we decide not to spilt up but have two people per side of the room. We pull scroll after scroll out to find the family name on them. June takes out a very old and worn scroll to find that it is my families.

  “Hey, look here. It says, "The king of all wolves will be mated to our first female alpha Claudia Stonewell. She will then be queen of all
wolves. This has been set in time since wolves have been created. They will be the most powerful pack to roam the earth in history. Claudia and Carson were mated before their family was ever made." “

  “What does that mean?” she asks.

  “I'm not sure but I need to bring this over to Carson to show him. Thank you, loves, for helping me.” I smile at them as I gather everything and carry it out of the library.

  I dial Carson's number and he picked up on the first ring, “Hello?”

  “Hey, it's Claudia. Can I come over? I have some things to show you.” I ask as I grab a jacket.

  “Salut pisoi (hello kitten). Of course, you can come over anytime.” he says smiling at every word.

  “Awesome, I'll be there soon. Can you send me your address?” I ask as I walk outside.

  “Yes, pisoi, I can.” he says.

  I walk out of my house and over to my car. It is an electric blue 2019 Civic coupe. I start the car and put on my favorite rock station and turn up the volume up loud. I type in Carson's address and start up the car.

  After a ten-minute drive I turn into the driveway and see a beautiful log cabin. I get out to be greeted by Harper and a guy with spiked black hair.

  “Hey, Harper!” I say as I get out.

  “Hey, my brother is inside.” he says.

  “Oh, let me help you with those. I'm Nikko.” The guy standing next to Harper says as he grabs the books from my hands.

  “Thank you and nice to meet you." I say giving him a small smile.

  I follow Harper and Nikko into the house. I’m greeted by the rest of the pack. I also see the bitch that was hugging Carson. She has a shitty grin on her face and her blond hair falling is down her back. Her brown eyes sink into her face and her green lipstick make her look like a hooker. Her outfit isn't much better than her shitty makeup. She’s wearing a red crop top with a choker and bright yellow short shorts with red heels.

  “Did you dress in dark?” I ask looking her up and down.

  “No, Carson likes it when I dress like this.” she says smiling even wider.

  “I doubt that. If you excuse me, I have a meeting with my mate.” I say smiling at her.
