The Lonewolf Page 8

“Yeah, but I didn’t hear everything.” I shrug my shoulders.

“My mate. She wants to get out of the pack we are in and join a different one.” He says looking down.

  “Why?”

“She says that the Alpha wants to kill every pack in the U.S., she doesn’t want to be a part of it. She wants me to surrender to you all so that I can join your pack. That way, she can come join as well.” He says in between bites.

“Why would we let you in our pack after what you did?” I ask getting up.

“It wasn’t like that. I know it looked bad, but it wasn’t that simple.” He says, hanging his head.

“Tell me what happened,” I demand.

“I was just in the woods, minding my business when she came along looking for a fight. She said that if I killed her, it would make Carson, her alpha, go to war and if I didn’t kill her, she was going to go to my alpha and ask him to kill you. I was mind-linked to my alpha and he ordered me to kill her. He put his head in his hands. “I couldn’t disobey my alpha, so I did what I was told.”

“Thank you for telling me the truth. I will let everyone know what you just told me, and I will be back soon.” I give him a small smile.

I make my way back up to the living room and I find the guys standing around the monitor. I let out a small cough letting them now that I’m back.

“We have to let him and his mate join. Yasmeen was a traitor and was going to have us killed.” I say fighting to keep Noah at bay.

“Fine, but I will go down and talk to him tomorrow, for now we need to make up a plan for all of these attacks.” Carson says.

“It might be a little late for that, Carson.” Ashton says pointing out to the back window.

I look out to see the back yard filled with wolves and they weren’t any from our pack. I run to the cells and I tell Eben that he and his mate can be in the pack.

“Thank you. My mate will be so pleased,” he says.

“You’re welcome but right now, there is an attack on us, and I think it might be your former pack. We need your help,” I rush to say.

He nods and we run into the living room to find Sam in mid fight with a black wolf.

“I have to find my mate.” Eben says as he runs into the back yard.

I run out after him so that I can fight with the others. I run over to brown wolf trying to attack Paul. I shift into my wolf and have Noah take over the fighting. I let out a protective growl and stand in front of Paul. I grab the brown wolf by the throat and rip it out and then I run over to a gray wolf who is just watching the scene unfold. As soon as it sees us coming it runs into the woods. I look over at Carson and notice that he saw it too. We take off after the gray wolf and corner it in the woods. I shift back to my human form and so does Carson.

“Shift! That’s an order!” Carson yells at the gray wolf

It shifts to reveal the alpha of Snow Hill, Reese. “We will win this war.” He says with a sneer.

“What war? There is no war.” I tell him.

“The war of all wars. The war of power.” Reese says.

“Who is ordering this?” Carson asks.

“The old bat, Waylon from the Winterstone pack. He wants the throne for himself and if packs won’t join him, then he kills them.” Reese says getting up.

“We can offer you a pardon if you join us” I tell him, thinking fast.

“We need a place to stay.” Reese says.

“Here is fine.” I tell him looking at Carson.

Carson walks away to tell the guys to stop fighting. I look back at Reese and see that he’s doing the same with his pack. We walk back to the house to see only three dead and six injured. Reese sees who’s dead and shakes his head.

“I’m not going to lie, the three that are dead, I won’t miss them. Can we get the injured inside and get them healed?” Reese asks us, looking around.

“Of course. I have a few pack members that are healers. I can call them to come over.” I say to him.

“Thank you. I owe you both.” He says to us.

I give him a small smile and grab my cell, “hey, I need everyone here. We have a few injured and we have some news about a war that has started,” I say to Marco.

“We’ll be there in three.” Marco responds and hangs up.

I turn back around to see everyone inside, all but Carson. I walk over to see if he’s okay.

“Hey, are you okay?” I ask him.

“Yeah, but if Waylon is behind all the killings then we need to get everyone on our side. We need to grab everyone that we know to fight this.” Carson says looking into the woods.

“We will.” I say resting my head on his arm.

We stand there for what feels like a few hours, but it was only a few minutes. I grab his arm and pull him towards the house. We get to the back door to see Sam and Ashton both on their phones. I open the door and walk inside. Everyone is sitting around the living room.

“Okay everyone, Waylon is calling for war. I always had the nagging suspicion that he was more friend than foe, and this is letting me know that I was right. Reese is joining the war on our side. His pack will be staying here along with Sam and Ashton’s packs. If it is too crowed here, then I will have a pack stay at the main house.” I say looking around.

  “What about us?” Willow asks.

“You are a part of mine. Carson is my mate which means his pack is my pack, vice versa. You will be moving into my pack house which is the main house. Go grab your things and move them. I have more than enough room for everyone,” I tell them.

Ashton walks up to Carson and me, “My pack is on their way.”

“Mine as well.” Sam chimes in.

I look at Sam and Ashton, I give them a smile and walk over to Mikayla where she is tending a wolf who has a cut on his leg. She looks up to see me looking at the cut. I grab her some wraps and I give the wolf a smile. I walk to Lavender who is healing two other wolves. I can’t see how bad they are, but I know they are in good hands. I look over to my left to see that Bleu, June, and Lorren are taking care of some other wolves and Abby is taking notes on the injuries. Looking around, I realize that we won this fight, but the war is just beginning.

  Chapter 14

  Carson

I look around to see Claudia’s pack tending the wounded. I notice that my pack were helping the ones that have minor injuries. I look at Claudia and see her walking around to the wounded and helping. I can’t believe that Waylon is behind the attacks. He was my father’s best friend for years. He was always there for my dad when he needed him.

I can’t understand why he’s doing this, but if he wants a war then he will get a war. The real question is, why does he want us dead? I’ll build an army if he wants a damn war and I won’t let anyone else die because he wants power. I’d be damned if he thinks I will let him kill Claudia or worse, mark her so she is his. I will not let him touch her in any way.

I need to get out of here before I snap. There is too much tension building in this house, and I need out. I walk to the wood line and take off. I hear someone coming up behind me and I turn around to see Claudia running with me.

  “What’s going on?” she asks.

“I just need to clear my head, that’s all.” I tell her.

“Why are you lying to me? I know something is going on, I feel it.” She says looking at me keeping the pace.

“Waylon is what’s wrong. He was always there for my dad so I can’t understand why he wants this wat.” I say, trying hard not to shift.

“He was also my dad’s best friend. I never liked him. I always had my suspicions that he was behind the attack on my family. I want him dead.” She says somehow calming me down.

“Do you think he killed my father, too?” I ask.

“It’s possible. I don’t really know anything, it’s just suspicion.” She says.

“We are going to need more than just us, Sam and Ashton. I know a pack that owes me a favor, with his pack we can take on Waylon.” I tel
l her as we stop in front of a house.

It’s made of stone and the two-story home was beautiful. All the windows are blown out and the front and back doors look like they are about to fall over. The basement doors have been ripped form the hinges and thrown down on the grass. The garden hasn’t been kept up in years. The weeds are growing all over the place. The big oak tree still growing tall and strong as ever with the branches were hanging down a bit lower than I remember, but still beautiful.

“Why are we here?” she looks around.

“It’s my Grams old house that we used to live in.” I say looking around.

“Hey, I just thought of something. We are still missing that other piece of stone rune. Why don’t we look in the house to see if we can find it and figure out what it does?” she says looking at me with fire in those beautiful purple eyes of hers.

“Yeah, maybe it will help us with the war.” I say bringing her into a hug.

She giggles and tries to wiggle out of my embrace. I pull her tighter. I didn’t want to let go, but I do so we can find the other half of the rune stone. I don’t let her out of my sight, though. We look outside first. We look in bushes and in the tall grass and we even dig in the garden to see if it was put there but we come up with nothing.

We make our way inside the house to the front room. I look in the TV while she looks in the furniture but there is nothing. We move into the next room, which is the dining room. I investigate the cupboard with the dishes while she looks on the table but still, we find nothing. I am getting frustrated that we aren’t finding anything.

We make our way to my mom and dad’s room. I look in the dressers and side table. Claudia looks in the closet and on the bed. I finally come across what we are looking for.

“Is this the stone rune that goes with your piece?” I ask her as she turns around.

“Yeah, that’s it. Let’s take it back to the house and put it together and see if it does anything.” She looks at it closer and takes a step back to make her way to the door.

I follow her out of the house and into the yard. I look at her to see that the look on her face says it all. She takes off running towards the house. I shake my head and take off behind her. This woman is going to the death of me. I take a short cut and make it back before she does and let everyone know what we found. She makes it back and when she does, Ashton’s pack and Sam’s pack arrive. I look around to see that we are going to need some more wolves.

I call my friend Wen, “Hey buddy, can I ask you favor? I need your pack to come help me and my mate fight.”

I get the yes from him and hang up the phone as I walk over to Claudia and overhear her telling her friend, Mikayla, to go get the other piece. Her friend nods her head and walks to a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL and gets in with Harper and drives off.

  Chapter 15

  Carson

Mikayla and Harper get back with the other piece after only a few minutes. It’s nice that our houses are so close. As we go to put them together, Wen knocks on the door with his pack. Harper gets up and walks to the door to let Wen and his pack in. Wen walks over and looks at the stone runes and cocks his head but says nothing.

“What is it?” I asked him.

“They look like something that my great grandfather told me about. I’m sure he was making things up. Please go on to what you were going to do.” Wen says.

Before we can continue, another knock comes from the door. Paul gets up to see who it is. Alpha James and his pack walk into the house and stand by Sam. Claudia grabs her piece before there can be any more disruptions and I do the same. We count to three and slide them together.

What happens next is something that I never thought would happen. I feel myself fall to the floor and slip into a dark sleep. I see Claudia do the same just before my eyes close.

We get thrown into a castle that I have never been in or seen before. We look at each other and then look in front of us to see her friend, Lavender there to help guide us to where we need to go. She waves her hand to signal us to follow her. I grab Claudia’s hand and follow Lavender. She leads us into a grand hall with a throne and people standing inside the room. I look at Claudia to see she as the same puzzled look on her face, as I do.

We make our way to the front to find that my great great great grandfather and grandmother are sitting on the thrones and that my great grandfather is standing next to them. In front of them is a beautiful womann with long flaming red hair, like Claudia’s. She has fair skin and was in a green dress with gold trim. I can’t make out her face and eyes because she’s facing away from me and towards the throne.

I look over to check on Claudia to see that she is looking at the young beautiful woman that looks like her. She turns her head and looks at my great grandfather just as we hear a male voice coming from beside the young woman. It is coming from a hooded man.

“Are you okay?” I whisper in her ear.

“Yes, but what is my great grandmother doing here? Who are those people sitting on the thrones?” she asks looking at me.

“Those are my family and as for your great grandmother, I’m not sure, pisoi.” I squeeze her hand.

We continue to watch the scene play out in front of us. The hooded man stands up and grabs Claudia’s great grandmother by the upper arm and throws her to the feet of my great great grandfather.

“She means nothing to me anymore. This slave is not worth my time.” The male voice says.

“Do not throw a woman to the ground! She is more than a slave.” My great grandfather says grabbing her and walking away from the room. I look at Claudia to see tears running down her face. I squeeze her hand and look to see that Lavender waving at us to follow her and my grandfather.

We walk down a hallway into a bed chamber. The bed chamber is beautiful. There is a four-poster bed with dark emerald and gold trim. There’re curtains that are the same color as the bedding. There is a wall length portrait of my grandfather on the opposite wall of the wardrobe. Next to the window is a door. I look to see my great grandfather lead Claudia’s great grandmother to the door.

“It’s okay. I’m not going to hurt you. I just want to help you. My servant will help you. You may stay in this room if you want. I will be in here. My name is Novak.” He says has he opens the door.

“T--thank Y--you. My name is Evangeline. I will be glad to stay in this room.” She says.

We get pulled into a different time period, both Novak and Evangeline are happy and there are two other people with them. I know one is my great grandmother and the other must be Claudia’s great grandfather.

“My sweet Gwendolyn watch out! Evangeline is right behind you!” Novak calls out.

“Oh, it’s okay. She needs to move anyway.” The other man says.

“Oh, Fredrick that’s not nice.” Evangeline says.

“Well that will teach you to stay out of the way, now won’t it?” Fredrick teases.

They continue to play and laugh, they look happy. We get pulled into another time period. This time it is when her grandmother was younger. She looks like she is being starved and underweight. I look at Claudia to see her eyes are big, but she is quiet. I look back to see the hooded male coming into the room to let her out. She looks grateful.

“You run away, and I will sell you, do you understand me?” he says grabbing her by the arm.

“Y--yes s--sir.” Evangeline says shaking her head.

“Good girl. You will shift and then I will make love to you. Is this clear?” he says

  “Yes sir.” She says.

He walks her out to the woods and takes a step back. His guards shift with her and take off. We follow her as she runs through the woods. She manages to outrun his guards and towards the castle. She makes her way to a very large solid black wolf that is walking along the walls of the castle. It stops and shifts into my grandfather Novak.

She shifts back to her human form and wraps her arms around him, “I’m sorry but I need your help, sir.” She says through tears. />
“What is it? I can help you.” Novak says holding her.

“I got kidnaped and I am now a slave to an old man that won’t let me go.” She says still crying.

“What is his name? I can talk to my father.” He says pulling tight.

“His name is German. He lives just on the other side of the woods to the left.” Evangeline says.

We both look at each other. German is Waylon’s relative. We both seem to know this bit of information.

“Okay, I will let my father know. You should go back before he starts looking for you.” Novak says.

“T--thank you!” she runs to the woods and shifts back.

We get pushed out and I wake up on the floor. I get up to see that Claudia getting up as well. I look around to see Lavender getting out of the chair next to the sofa. I also see that everyone is looking at us with a confused look on their faces.

“What was all of that?” Harper says looking at Claudia and me.

“I think it was flashbacks of our great grandfather and great grandmother? But I don’t know what it all means.” Claudia says.

“I might. Do you have your family scrolls with you?” I ask her.

“Yes, I also have my family’s history book.” She tells me as she points out both sitting on a table.

I pull out my scroll and family history book and set it out on the table next to the rune. I open the scroll and the book to my great grandfather Novak. I look at the book to see that the name Gwendolyn next to his name. She opens the book to her great grandmother Evangeline to see that the name Fredrick next to hers. The scrolls begin to from a type of langue that I learned a long time ago.

It says, “The one who is the saver becomes the saved.”

We look at each other and our tattoos begin to pulse, and I begin to feel like I am on fire. I notice that Claudia looks to be feeling the same thing. We run outside and the intense heat makes us take of our clothes and shift into our wolf forms. We each let out a howl and then shift back again. Claudia runs into me and crashes her lips on mine. I wrap my arms around her as I deepen in the kiss. I pick her up and take her back into the house. I want to fuck her so bad, I can tell that she wants to do the same.
